Generation X is a 7-part Star Trek series I started writing several years ago. Because of changes in the Star Trek universe made by Paramount, the series has been abandoned indefinitely, though always may be revived later.

The series follows the career of Bryan Anderson, from his early days Star Fleet Academy, his being assigned as Star Fleet Commander and Chief Gregory Quinn's personal assistant shortly after graduating top of his class, his nearly fatal injury as a young Commander aboard the Ghetesberg, his nearly 2 years of rehab and assignment to head the rankorous engineering team for the new Universe-class U.S.S. Enterprise F, his loss of commanding that ship when promoted to the Admiralty, his seeking the Federation Council Presidency and subsequent appointment to Star Fleet Commander and Chief.

His first test as C&C was to repel a Borg invasion aimed at destroying Vulcan, culminating in Anderson's taking command of the Enterprise as command ship for the fleet sent to intercept and defend the vital Federation member. He was later involved in a secret mission to the breakaway Federation colony Westvorlon, and the accidental destruction that followed was blamed on him by his former political opponents. He barely avoided the court martial, but not before the Enterprise was thrown clear of the galaxy and involved in an alien races' civil war that nearly resulted in the loss of the Enterprise, but answered a 150 year old mystery.

The series concluded with the Enterprise on a mission to return retired Captain Picard back to Earth, when the Enterprise is forced to aide a scientific mission on the planet where the Guardian of Forever is under attack by Romulan warships. The aging Enterprise is no match for the seiging Romulan fleet, and is Picard sacrifices himself and the Enterprise to save the ship's crew from certain torture. Anderson is greeted by all the officers he's helped up through the ranks upon the survivors' return, and is convinced to try another run for the Presidency and wins.

Another book was planned in the series, written from the perspective of Anderson's aide and friend Ian Hudson. In a universe where Anderson is married and has a wife, both killed during a terrorist attack, the Federation is falling under great strain. Anderson isn't coping with his loss, but his friend doesn't have the heart to relieve him of duty as he should. But when Anderson gets the Enterprise crippled chasing the marauders that killed his wife and is killed, the Federation begins to crumble under a push by the Romulans. With no other options, Hudson takes the Guardian of Forever back in time to the moment when he and Anderson first arrived at the Academy, and Anderson first met his future wife. He succeeds in setting the past on a different course, but is caught by Star Fleet's Office of Temporal Operations, and Anderson is forced to confront his friend's future self and learns of the horror he nearly unleashed by the simple act of falling in love at the wrong moment in history.
